Roderick Paulin’s teaching career spans more than three decades where he has taught students of all ages the fundamentals of music, musicianship, and personal development. Mr Paulin’s students are oftentimes rewarded with real-world professional experiences that showcases their proficiency of fundamental musical concepts that are studied in the classroom. These experiences greatly helps students understand the professional environment from the teaching and performing standpoint. Mr Paulin has served in various capacities as an arranger, composer, multi-saxophonist/clarinetist for notable groups and musical celebrities as a result of his tenacious practice regiment. His work ethic and affiliation with The ReBirth Brass Band, Delfeayo Marsalis &The Uptown Jazz Orchestra, Herlin Riley Quintet, Shannon Powell Band, The Original Tuxedo Traditional Jazz Band, Preservation Hall Jazz/Brass Band, Gerald French Quintet, and The Paulin Bros. Brass Band to name a few, has taken Roderick to virtually every corner of the United States, Asia, Africa, Canada, the Caribbean Islands and Europe multiple times over the course of his career as a performer and master teacher. Roderick is consistently invited to teach master classes to students at various middle and high schools and prominent universities in his national and international travels. Mr Paulin has studied under master music professors Edward ‘Kidd’ Jordan, pianist/composer Roger Dickerson and modern jazz clarinetist Alvin ‘Mr. Bat’ Batiste at Southern University and A&M College. Paulin earned the Masters in Jazz Studies Degree from Louisiana State University (LSU) in May 2022 and he’s currently a PhD Music Education Candidate at LSU.
