Roderick’s compositions and arrangements have been performed by professional, university, and high school level jazz ensembles and marching bands throughout the Unites States. Paulin was the principal arranger for The Kermit Ruffins Big Band and The Davell Crawford Orchestra for over 15 years performing jazz, classic R&B, pop, and rock genres. Paulin studied arranging basics with noted composer Roger Dickerson while attending Southern University from 1986-1990. Roderick was a member of The Wardell Quezergue Orchestra from 1998-2004 where he learned the Mr. Wardell Quezergue’s technique of only using a tuning fork mesmerized Roderick into learning how to hear notes/chords and assigning them to various sections of an ensemble without the aid of a piano. As a member of Grammy-Winning ReBirth Brass Band, Paulin was at the forefront of reshaping the brass band sound of the 1990’s by composing and arranging songs that are now considered to be anthems among brass bands nationally and internationally. Roderick has over 300 arrangements to his credit. Roderick has collaborated with many noted jazz and popular artists such as The Afghan Whigs, The Brand New Heavies, PJ Morton, Aretha Franklin, Branford Marsalis, John Legend and Snoop Dogg as an arranger and/ or soloist.
